N.O.D.I.S.C.

On the subject of the 'Growth Point' proposal for South Craven, the good folks of Sutton-in-Craven have launched their own initiative - N.O.D.I.S.C. (No OverDevelopment In South Craven) and are actively distributing leaflets and flyers in the area in a bid to generate public awareness of what was previously a closely held CDC secret. The proposal meant that Cross Hills, Glusburn and Sutton-in-Craven would be overdeveloped in such a way that they would effectively become what is fancifully known as an 'Eco-Town', with little regard being given to the quality of village life currently enjoyed there.

You can follow the progress of the Sutton-in-Craven campaign on the village website forums here:

Please support N.O.D.I.S.C. and hopefully this absurd plan will be shelved for good.

Martin.

Overdevelopment in South Craven

The proposed overdevelopment of our villages suffered a blow on Wednesday night when large numbers of the public attended a meeting at the Council Chamber, having been alerted to the meeting by Sutton Councillor Stephen Place. Please see forum thread here:

What is it with secrecy and the CDC? Can't they approach anything in an honest way? It transpired that the only notice advising of the meeting was in the Council offices, and even some Councillors were probably unaware of it. (Shades of the Lothersdale election that never was...).

The good news is that two public meetings are now to be held, one in South Craven, and one in Skipton. Isn't it about time that some of this shady bunch were publicly kicked out of office? They clearly haven't realised that they are accountable to the public.
